My name is Chiharu Yanagawa, and I am a therapist providing in-person counselling in Vancouver and virtually across BC. I offer therapy in English, Japanese, and Mandarin, and I am committed to creating a space where you feel heard, respected, and supported in my office located in the heart of Kitsilano.
I believe that therapy can be a meaningful space for reflection, growth, and healing. My approach is collaborative, culturally responsive, and grounded in evidence-based practices. I support individuals through emotional healing, personal growth, and deeper self-understanding by helping you identify your inner strengths, shift unhelpful patterns, and develop a stronger foundation of self-compassion.

I understand that culture, language, and lived experience all shape how we relate to ourselves and others, and I aim to provide a space where all parts of your experience can be acknowledged and respected.
My integrative, evidence-based approach draws on a range of therapeutic modalities, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Narrative Therapy. I tailor these approaches to meet your unique needs and goals, blending practical, skills-based tools with deeper emotional exploration. Together, we’ll work to create meaningful and lasting change in a way that feels authentic and aligned with your values.
My counselling services.
I offer individual counselling for adults who are navigating challenges such as anxiety, stress, depression, life transitions, or relationship concerns. Sessions are collaborative and tailored to your unique needs, helping you explore emotions, build insight, and develop practical tools for change.
I offer counselling in English, Japanese, and Mandarin to support clients in the language they feel most comfortable expressing themselves. I also provide in-person counselling at my office in the heart of Kitsilano or virtually to anywhere in BC.

I draw from a wide range of evidence-based modalities to support your growth and healing journey.
These include: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Trauma-Informed Approaches, Strengths-Based and Client-Centered Frameworks.
My rates.
My standard fee is $160 CAD per 50-minute session. I offer all new clients a first free 20 minute consultation so we can get to know each other better, ensure that we are the right fit, and address any questions or concerns you may have.
I provide a receipt following payment, which you may be able to submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement, depending on your coverage. Please note that I do not offer direct billing to insurance providers. It is recommended that you check with your insurer to confirm whether services provided by a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) are covered under your plan. If you're interested in utilizing your benefits for sessions with a Registered Psychologist, please inform me during our consultation call.
If cost is a concern, I offer a limited number of reduced-rate spaces. Please feel free to inquire about availability during your initial consultation.
Payment is due at the time of each session and can be made by e-transfer or credit card.
